A man who held two women hostage at a New Jersey UPS distribution center died after being shot by SWAT personnel, KYW News Radio reports. Gloucester County Prosecutor Charles Fiore confirmed a man was shot by SWAT at a UPS Mail Innovations facility in Logan Township, New Jersey. The man, later identified as William Owens, reportedly arrived at the facility at around 8:30 a.m. Monday morning and got into an “altercation” with a security guard. He then reportedly took the two women hostage while police were notified of the active-shooter situation. A source told the local news station that one of the women was Owens’ ex-girlfriend. SWAT units, FBI hostage negotiators, state and local police were at the scene, which was reportedly secured by early afternoon. Owens was reportedly shot by authorities, taken into custody, and died later Monday. The women were found unharmed, and there were no other reported injuries. Officials told KYW News Radio that they were in contact with Owens via phone, and he did not surrender to police.
