A swarm of 40,000 bees killed a man and gravely injured a woman over the weekend, authorities and family members confirmed on Sunday. Larry Goodwin, 62, of Moody, Texas, died Saturday after his tractor hit a pile of wood that was concealing the hive of Africanized honeybees. Every inch of his body was covered in bee stings. A woman and her daughter were also injured when they tried to help him, each receiving about 100 stings. Africanized honeybees are an especially aggressive hybrid of Western and African bees that first arrived in the U.S. from Central America about 15 years ago.
