Swastikas Found at New York City School, Governor Cuomo Orders Investigation

The incident is said to raise the number of anti-Semitic hate crimes in the city to nearly 50 this year.

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has ordered State Police to help find vandals who tagged dozens of Swastikas and “Hail Hitler” in a Queens schoolyard. The Nazi symbols were discovered by a school custodian who reported it to the NYPD, Education Department officials said. City Councilman Chaim Deustch, who chairs the Council’s Jewish Caucus, said the incident raises the number of anti-Semitic hate crimes in the city to nearly 50 since the start of 2019. “I am appalled and disgusted by the Swastikas and other anti-Semitic symbols of hate that were scrawled in a Queens schoolyard,” Cuomo said in a statement on Sunday. “In New York, we have zero tolerance for such vile acts of anti-Semitism.”
