Syracuse Beats Kansas State

While Gongaza loses to Ohio State.

Syracuse sailed past Kansas State on Saturday, racking up a 16-point lead in the second half. “The second half, we made shots,” said head coach Jim Boeheim. “We haven’t done that lately.” Scoop Jardine led the charge with 16 points and 8 assists, but the win was a team effort—Dion Waiters snagged 18 points, and James Southerland scored an additional 15. The win may signal a turnaround for the Orange, with the team averaging 74.5 points per game over five of their past seven efforts. In other NCAA tournament news, Ohio State beat Gonzaga to advance to the Sweet 16. Ohio State led in the half, but Gonzaga refused to give up and eventually took the lead 58–56 with less than six minutes left. But the Ohio State Buckeyes managed to pull ahead with two 3-point shots.
