Syracuse University has suspended the fraternity Theta Tau after videos recorded in the group’s house emerged and showed members engaging in behavior that was “extremely racist, anti-Semitic, homophobic, sexist, and hostile to people with disabilities,” The Daily Orange reported. Videos obtained by the student newspaper, which were originally posted on a secret Facebook group, show a frat member making another member kneel and repeat an “oath” that stated, “I solemnly swear to always have hatred in my heart for n----rs, spics and most importantly the fuckin’ kikes.” Other recordings posted include anti-Semitic slurs, and derogatory terms for people with disabilities. Syracuse Chancellor Kent Syverud said he was “appalled and shaken by this and deeply concerned for all members of our community” in an email blast to students. Protests also broke out on campus, and a forum with Syverud was held Wednesday over the school not releasing the videos. According to the newspaper, Theta Tau is the fourth fraternity to be suspended from the school in the 2017-18 academic year alone.
