Syria's foreign minister on Saturday said that troops from Saudi Arabia or any other nation would "return home in wooden coffins" if they tried to enter his country. Saudi Arabia said earlier this week that it is ready to send troops into the country to help support the Syrian rebels. Walid al-Moallem also said that due to recent developments, President Bashar al-Assad's government is "on track" to end the Syrian civil war. The comments come at the end of a week in which UN-sponsored peace talks dissolved and Assad's troops, with the help of Russia, laid siege to the rebel-controlled sections of Aleppo, sending tens of thousands of civilians fleeing toward the Turkish border.
