A 22-year-old Syrian was arrested in Germany early Monday, two days after security officials launched a manhunt for a man suspected to be plotting a suicide attack. Police in Leipzig said Jaber Albakr was subdued by another Syrian and that individual’s two Syrian roommates who had seen “wanted” posters. According to Germany’s interior minister, investigators found three pounds of an “extremely dangerous explosive” and other materials required for a suicide vest inside Albakr’s apartment. He was reported to be known to German authorities since last month, when intelligence services allegedly received a tip about a planned attack. He settled in Germany in February of last year.
