Mission accomplished? The Syrian government announced that the attack on Latakia is finally over, after arresting several "armed terrorists." Latakia is home to a large enclave of Palestinian refugees, and as the port city was battered by the forces of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, as many as 10,000 residents fled. Government troops have carried out more arrests and intimidation on the fourth day of the crackdown, and residents say the regime is attempting to build a wall of fear to quash protests that have been calling for the resignation of Assad. So far, activists say, 35 people have been killed since Saturday.
