9 police officers were killed in Pakistan Thursday when Taliban gunmen attacked their compound. Through a spokesman, the Taliban took full responsibility for the attack on the men, who were training to become prison guards, telling the Associated Press the killings were revenge for their fighters being tortured in prison by police. The police who were shot at were actually recruited from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in the northwest, once a base for the Taliban. Eight other officers were wounded, one of which said the attackers' faces were hidden behind hoods and they shouted "God is great" as they shot each police officer one by one.
