Tamerlan’s Cause of Death Revealed

Listed as gunshot wounds and blunt trauma.

The official cause of death for Tamerlan Tsarnaev was leaked to the media Friday and is listed on his death certificate as gunshot wounds and blunt trauma. The owner of a funeral parlor in Worcester, where Tsarnaev’s body is being prepped for burial, showed reporters a copy of the certificate. The fatal injuries occurred after Tsarnaev was shot by police and then run over by a vehicle—allegedly with his younger brother, Dzhokhar, behind the wheel. It’s not yet clear where Tamerlan will be buried. Meanwhile, investigators discovered remnants of explosives at the home in Cambridge he shared with his wife, Katherine Russell.
