The Tea Party Express is back, and its endorsing former Missouri State Treasurer Sarah Steelman for the Republican Senate nomination. In an email release Thursday the group's chair Amy Kremer said, "One of the Tea Party Express's top priorities in 2012 is to elect a conservative majority to the U.S. Senate, and we are confident that Sarah Steelman is the candidate in Missouri best suited for the job." Not everyone is on board with the group's endorsement, however. After the announcement, 17 other Tea Party groups from Missouri made sure to clarify that they are not in favor of Steelman, who is up against Rep. Todd Akin and former Germ-X chief John Brunner in the primary. Whoever wins will face incumbent Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill in the general election.
