Egyptian security forces and protesters in Cairo clashed Tuesday night, as police reportedly used tear gas to break up the 3,000 who had gathered in Tahrir Square and allegedly threw rocks at them. Al Jazeera reported that at least eight people had been injured in the clash. “[This] is an example of the tension that still exists between the police and ordinary Egyptians,” said Al Jazeera’s Ayman Moheyldin. The clashes reportedly began between families of those killed during the February uprising that overthrew former President Hosni Mubarak’s administration.
