The AP reported early Wednesday that Sen. Ted Cruz won the Republican presidential caucuses in Alaska, edging out Donald Trump with 36 percent of the vote. Cruz earlier declared victories in both his home state of Texas and neighboring Oklahoma. While Cruz has always been the favorite to take his home state over Donald Trump, the Oklahoma victory came as a surprise as the frontrunner reality-TV star had maintained a double-digit polling lead in the most recent polling.
