When Senator Ted Kennedy was diagnosed with brain cancer last year, many thought the end was near. But the lion of the Senate, now 77, has shown few signs of slowing down. In fact, his long-awaited memoir, True Compass, will be released next fall, before its original 2010 release date. After he signed the book deal in 2007, Kennedy reportedly received an $8 million advance. The book will cover the Senator’s life – from his memories of childhood to his time in the Senate (the Chappaquiddick incident will receive ink but, according to his publisher, is still “out of bounds.”) Part of the book’s proceeds will go to the John F. Kennedy Library.
