Is it 2002? Check your calendars—the pop princess looked as blond and put-together as she did in her former glory days, and it seems her career is in (yet another) turnaround. Sons Jayden James and Sean Preston were her red-carpet dates, and later Britney was handed the Ultimate Choice Award by Miley Cyrus. The teenybopper motto: Once a fan of Brit, always a fan of Brit.

Before Chace “I only play a teen on TV” Crawford took home the Choice TV Actor: Drama award, he said: “This is an honor, you’ve got to love the teens. We’re here because of them.” Not surprisingly, Gossip Girl took home a number of awards, including Choice Drama TV Show.

A bedheaded Robert Pattinson—who has been so mobbed while filming on the streets of Manhattan, he’s taken to hanging out in Queens—took home two awards, including Choice Male Hottie for his vampiric turn in Twilight. Pattinson and his co-star (and rumored real-life love interest) Kristen Stewart also shared a surfboard for winning the highly debated Choice Movie Liplock award. Much to their fans’ chagrin, the couple did not reenact the moment onstage.

Apparently it wasn’t a conflict of interest for the guitar-wielding trio to host evening’s festivities and win five awards. Nick, Kevin, and Joe were (naturally) hailed as red-carpet icons and for their breakout TV show Jonas. Outfit changes? Too many to count.

The High School Musical couple cozied up during the show, where Zac took home awards for his wide-ranging talents on display in 17 Again and HSM. Vanessa Hudgens stayed out of the limelight—a wise move after another round of nude photos of the star recently hit the Internet.

The Twilight star took home the Fresh Face Male award—only one of the film’s 11-award haul. The 17-year-old gained 30 pounds of muscle to become werewolf Jacob Black in the film’s sequel New Moon. Doesn’t he deserve a little more than a surfboard for hitting the gym five to seven days a week?

Hello, favorite new fake couple of the year. Sarah Palin’s former future son-in-law accompanied 48-year-old comedienne Kathy Griffin to the show. The 19-year-old Alaskan awkwardly held hands with the self-proclaimed D-lister, whom he called “beautiful,” “funny,” and “the star of the night.” We never thought Kathy would find a better match than The Woz, but…we were wrong.

The Heroes starlet was on hand to class up the Gibson Amphitheatre in a pink Zac Posen dress and present the Fresh Face awards to two Twilight stars. Later, she scooped up her own surfboard for her cheerleader role on Heroes.

Does anyone else miss Veronica Mars? Kristen Bell left boyfriend Dax Shepard at home, and instead brought her stylist to the red carpet. She was nominated for her Heroes role, but lost out to her decade-younger co-star Hayden Panetierre.

Mrs. Josh Duhamel performed with the rest of the Black Eyed Peas at the show. The biggest shock of the night came when her performance was more child-friendly than Miley Cyrus’.

Already the topic of heated debate, Miley Cyrus slightly stunned onlookers with her surprising performance involving a pole dance. The Disney star sang her single “Party in the U.S.A.” while twirling atop an ice-cream cart. It didn’t seem to faze her fans—Billy Ray’s daughter danced away with six awards for the night.

Oh, what an upset. The improbably beautiful star of Transformers was crowned Choice Female Hottie and accepted her award with Twilight’s Robert Pattinson. Always known for speaking her mind, while accepting her award the starlet wisely told the audience, “I’m going to shut up now so you can all look at Robert Pattinson.”

The brawny Australian won for his titular role in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Backstage, he revealed plans for a sequel that may film in Japan, in a nod to his character’s comic-book storyline.
