One of 11 children found living at a filthy makeshift compound in New Mexico last month has reportedly told investigators he was being trained for “jihad” against non-believers. The 13-year-old boy, identified as a son of Jany Leveille, one of several suspects facing charges, told the FBI that his mother’s boyfriend, Siraj Ibn Wahhaj, “wanted to get an army together” and prepare the children for war. Court documents show the boy also told investigators that Wahhaj trained him and another teenage son of Leveille in firearms and military techniques, telling them about a jihad in which they’d kill non-believers on behalf of Allah. Wahhaj and Leveille face the most serious charges of all the suspects arrested at the compound. They are charged with child abuse resulting in death in connection with the death of Wahhaj’s 3-year-old son, who prosecutors say died as a result of the pair refusing him medical treatment. In addition to those state charges, they and three other suspects were hit with charges of conspiracy and firearms offenses on Friday.
