A new test for Alzheimer’s being developed by British researchers could lead to a diagnosis in the disease’s earliest stages, meaning it could be caught decades earlier, which could result in better treatment all around. The test would look for proteins that linked to Alzheimer’s, and researchers said it could be technically possible to distinguish between a healthy person and a person with Alzheimer’s. If the test is successful, it could determine what risk someone has of getting the disease—and could target the disease for those who are at risk.
