A Texan man, 37-year-old Arturo Diaz, was put to death on Thursday for a 1999 killing in which he stole $50 from a victim he bound and stabbed 94 times. The U.S. Supreme Court earlier refused an appeal to block the lethal injection. Before being injected, Diaz told the father of his victim, "I hope this can bring some relief for you and your family" and added that he hoped his execution "serves as an example for some youngsters...Think about it before you do drugs." Diaz's was the 13th execution in Texas this year.
