“This really pisses me off… this is serious porn!”
Back in November 2010, before the days of being Mrs. Kanye West and raking in over $40 million for a lifestyle app, Kim Kardashian posed semi-nude on the cover of W magazine. The cover story was titled “Kim Kardashian: The Art of Reality,” and written by M.I.A. BFF Lynn Hirschberg. “Kim Kardashian can’t sing, act, or dance, but she’s found the role of a lifetime in the fine art of playing herself,” Hirschberg wrote. The cover photo showed Kardashian completely nude with bars blocking out her privates, and the accompanying photo spread depicted the reality star even more nude, covered in silver body paint.
The episode of her E! reality series, Keeping Up with the Kardashians, that centered on the magazine aired in January 2011. At the time of the cover’s publication, Kardashian was trying to distance herself from her sex tape image, creating a wholesome, reality-friendly version of herself. So when the magazine hit the shelves, she freaked out.
“Oh my God, I’m more naked than I was in Playboy!” she sobbed to her sisters. “I’m so mad right now. She promised I would be covered with artwork. You can see nipple. The whole concept was sold to me that nothing would be seen.”Kim added, “I feel so taken advantage of...I’ve definitely learned my lesson…I’m never taking my clothes off again, even if it’s for Vogue.”
And here’s the kicker: “I don’t want people to be like, ‘All she’s good for is, you know, being naked.’”

Of course, Kardashian has now posed completely nude for the pages of Paper magazine and legendary French lensman Jean-Paul Goude. The times, they are a-changin’. Or not.
