From seriously greasy hair to the world's worst fashion violation (socks with sandals), see the oddest trends that emerged from the runways at New York Fashion Week, which wrapped Thursday.

This week, the runways were buggin' out. And we mean that in the best way possible. Tory Burch, Desigual, Rag & Bone, Opening Ceremony, and Ralph Lauren were among the designers bitten by the trend of oversized, bug-eyed sunglasses.

Looks like proper hygiene has fallen out of fashion. Greasy-haired models were everywhere this week, showering the runways of Rag & Bone, Suno, Prabal Gurung, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Alexander Wang, The Row, J.Crew, Tory Burch, and Marc by Marc Jacobs. A week of not bathing to accomplish the messy, greasy hair look? WARNING: Do not try this at home.

Prepare to suspend disbelief: suspenders are apparently very on-trend. Strapped onto models parading the catwalks of Rodarte, Marissa Webb, and Alexander Wang, the suspender trend was just a small component of the 1990s-resurgence trend that was prominent this week. Urkel would be so proud.

Mixed prints are one thing, mixed messages are another. The combination of skimpy bathing suits and thick overcoats on Tory Burch, Mara Hoffman, and Peter Som's runways left us slightly perplexed. Not quite sure how wool will feel on a beach in Miami, but these are definitely not your typical beach cover-ups, to say the least.

Don't encourage grandma, but visors made a come-back on the runway. From wide-brimmed to monogramed, they covered the collections of Opening Ceremony, Kate Spade, DKNY, The Row, and Custo Barcelona.

If you like it, put a label on it. In case show-goers forgot whose collection they were viewing, designers like Alexander Wang, DKNY, and Ralph Lauren all made sure to embed their name in one way or another onto their pieces.

Season after season, pro athletes -- especially NBA stars such as Lebron James, Amar’e Stoudemire, and Carmelo Anthony -- sit front row at fashion week. But who would have thought that these athletes swayed fashion's biggest trends? Presumably taking a cue from the athletes, models sported thick black headbands on Victoria Beckham, Vera Wang, KaufmanFranco, and Nicholas K's runways.

Kilts are killing it--somehow. Men boldly walked the runways of Hood by Air and Duckie Brown in full-fledged skirts.

The one fashion violation more egregious than white pants after labor day is undoubtedly socks and sandals. Band of Outsiders, Creatures of Comfort, and Louise Goldin all embraced this cringe-worthy duo on runways. This combo will surely make a street style splash, just like the unlikely return of the Birkenstock.
