And according to an analysis of the so-called Rand effect in The Economist, “Whenever governments intervene in the market, in short, readers rush to buy Rand’s book.” Sales of the 1957 book—a novel about embattled capitalism that is often seen in backpacks of high-schoolers—have reportedly tripled over the past year.
