Celebrating more than cowboy hats, guitars, and whiskey, country music’s biggest stars gathered in Nashville last night at the 49th annual Country Music Association Awards.
Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood hosted the event together for their eighth time. As 2015 is the year of celebrity breakups, they awkwardly poked fun at the separated couples that were in attendance, Miss Piggy and Kermit, and Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert (too soon!).
Justin Timberlake made his first CMA appearance alongside Best New Artist, Best Male Vocalist, and Album of the Year winner Chris Stapleton. Luke Bryan won entertainer of the year and Little Big Town won the Best Song and Single of the Year for Girl Crush.
In what was probably the most satisfying “winning the breakup” moment in the history of anyone who’s ever run into an ex, Miranda Lambert won Best Female Vocalist for a sixth time.
Suck it, Shelton.
