The Cormac McCarthy Papers

REVEALED

New archive that includes unpublished novel is unveiled in Texas.

A new archive sheds light on Cormac McCarthy, the Pultizer-Prize winning recluse. The Cormac McCarthy Papers, an archive of the writer’s documents, is now on view at Texas State University-San Marcos. The collection includes correspondence and drafts of each of his ten novels—including exciting marginalia, like hand-drawn maps of Saltillo and Zacatecas in All The Pretty Horses. The archive also includes an unpublished novel, The Passenge—which will not be on view until it is published—and an unproduced screenplay called Whales and Men.
