Tim Teeman, senior editor and writer at The Daily Beast, has won the NLGJA (Association of LGBTQ Journalists) Excellence in Sports Writing Award for his opinion piece about boxer Floyd Mayweather using the word ‘faggot’ last year as part of his litany of pre-match trash-talking against opponent Conor McGregor. The awards will be presented at the NLGJA’s annual conference, to be held in Palm Springs between September 6 and 9.
