The Daily Show‘s Michael Kosta has discovered the true low point in the ongoing feud between Elon Musk and Donald Trump: they’ve become so unhinged that they’ve made Kanye West seem to be the real “stable genius.”
After sarcastically saying, “Some more sober minds are calling for a ceasefire,” Kosta shared West’s reaction to the Musk drama.
The controversial rapper had posted on X, “Broooos please noooooo 🫂 We love you both so much."
“Look,” Kosta said. ”You know you’ve gone too far when Kanye West is saying, ‘Please, stop being messy on the Internet.’"
Kosta’s monologue Thursday comes a few months after West was dropped from his talent agency for a string of hateful, antisemitic tweets. It was but one of a now seemingly endless list of moments where West was, to put it mildly, “messy on the internet.”
Kosta zeroed in on the many MAGA world reactions to the escalating situation between Trump and Musk, which now includes Musk accusing Trump of being in the Epstein files and Trump threatening to terminate Musk’s governmental contracts.
“Steve Bannon called for Musk to be deported,” Kosta noted. “Some Musk fans called for Trump to be impeached, to which Musk replied, ‘Yes.’”
“Meanwhile, some people in MAGA World are so freaked out by this break-up that they’ve chosen to respond in denial,” Kosta said.
He showed a Newsmax clip of host Carl Higbie arguing, “I think Trump might be working in tandem with Elon here to tank his own bill in a 4D chess move!”
Kosta replied, “4D chess? No, at best it’s Jenga between two kids who immediately knock the tower over and start whipping blocks at each other.”
The recurring Daily Show host also emphasized the sheer significance of Musk accusing Trump of being in the Epstein files, even if it might seem meaningless to liberals who have already believed Trump was in them.
“Look, it’s not a big surprise that Trump might be in the Epstein files,” Kosta said. “We’ve seen them party together. Of course Trump is in the Epstein files.”
“But for his own best friend/sugar daddy to say this? That is huge,” Kosta said.
Kosta added about Musk, “Although, I like that he ends [his post] with, ‘Have a nice day.’ I don’t know if Trump is, but I sure am.”
