In the introduction of his collection Hollywood Boulevard 1969-1972, photographer Dennis Feldman writes, “Hollywood is a nortorious heartbreaker where only a few dreams come true.” Feldman captures the grit, personality, ambition and insecurity of these Hollywood hopefuls in his stunning collection of black-and-white portraits.
“The reason that I walked that street collecting peoples’ photographs, I understood even then, in my 23 year old state, was not the hope of being a great success, but because nothing terrified me more than being a failure,” Feldman writes. “We each need to be a somebody even if only in our own imagination.”
