The Met's Costume Gala Goes to the Movies

Model Muse

The theme of this year's Metropolitan Museum Costume Institute Gala was announced first announced last fall ('The Model as Muse: Embodying Fashion'). Now comes word of more specifics regarding the accompanying exhibition, which is sponsored by Marc Jacobs and Condé Nast, and is overseen by Gala co-chairs Anna Wintour and Kate Moss. According to the Telegraph, "mannequins will be styled by Julien D'Ys and the exhibition will be designed by the Academy Award-winning designer, John Myhre, of Memoirs of a Geisha and Dreamgirls fame. Myhre promised a cinematic experience with footage, soundtracks, film sets, visuals and clothes to evoke the various eras." As for the Gala, as with years past, it is sure to be as star-studded as the Oscars and flooded with couture.
