Widows daubed in colors dance as they take part in the Holi celebrations organized by non-governmental organisation Sulabh International at a widows’ ashram in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh. Traditionally in Hindu culture, widows are expected to renounce earthly pleasure and do not celebrate Holi. But women at the shelter for widows, who have been abandoned by their families, celebrated the festival by throwing flowers and colored powder. Holi, also known as the Festival of Colors, heralds the beginning of spring and is celebrated all over India.

Misao Okawa, the world's oldest person, is seen during her 117th birthday celebration at Kurenai Nursing Home. Okawa has held the title as the world's oldest living person since the June 12, 2013, after the death of Jiroemon Kimura, who lived to 116 years and 54 days old. She is ranked as the oldest Japanese person ever and only the third person in the world to have ever reached the age of 117.
