This Smartphone Mount Uses Facial Tracking Technology

Take your smartphone photography skills to the next level with this motorized mount.

If you find the tripod or selfie stick severely lacking when it comes to giving you a variety of creative options for taking photos and videos, then the Picbot Smartphone Mount might be the solution to your smartphone photography woes.

Successfully funded on Kickstarter, the Picbot is a motorized mount — controllable via either a smartphone or the accompanying Bluetooth remote — that can help you capture next-level pictures and videos using facial tracking technology. It can swivel a full 360 degrees, allowing you to take picture-perfect panoramas and time-lapses.

Its built-in face tracking software follows you and your every move, so you don't have to worry about adjusting the mount on every take. You can even include other people during filming, as it's capable of focusing in on up to three faces at the same time. The Picbot app also lets you choose shooting modes and allows you to apply filters to your shots.

Normally, the Picbot Smartphone Mount would set you back $200, but The Daily Beast readers can get it on sale now for $112.99 — a savings of 43% off.
