At least three people were killed when an explosion tore through an upscale shopping mall in Bogota’s tourist district on Saturday. Nine other people were injured in the blast at the Centro Andino. Mayor Enrique Penalosa has described the explosion as a “cowardly terrorist bombing,” though no group has come forward to claim responsibility. The National Liberation Army denied that it had any role in the attack in a statement issued Sunday, saying those accusing the rebel group of involvement shouldn’t make “reckless and unfounded accusations.” The group is currently involved in peace talks with the government and said it didn’t want rumors about the bombing to harm the negotiations.
