Officials in three states are investigating the deaths of a biological father and daughter accused of incest, their seven-month old son, and the daughter’s adoptive father in a suspected multiple murder-suicide, CBS News reports. Police in North Carolina responded to a call at the home where Steven Pladl, 45, and Katie Pladl, 20—the father and daughter accused of incest—were living, and police found the body of their infant son, Bennett Pladl. Connecticut police also found the bodies of Katie and her adoptive father, Anthony Fusco, in a pickup truck. Several miles away, New York state troopers found Steven Pladl in a minivan, killed by a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Police in North Carolina confirmed that Steven Pladl is suspected in his son’s murder. Steven and Katie reportedly began their incestuous relationship after Katie sought out her birth parents and wanted to live with them. After her mother found out about their sexual relationship and that Katie was pregnant, she divorced him and notified authorities. They both moved to North Carolina, where they were arrested for “incest, adultery, and contributing to delinquency.” Their bond terms separated them and Katie reportedly “broke up with [Steven]... over the phone,” possibly prompting the murder-suicide.
