Three people were killed and another 22 wounded over an 18-hour period in Chicago this weekend. The latest uptick in gun violence saw shootings in multiple neighborhoods, with the gunmen in at least two attacks using rifles. Two quadruple shootings on the city’s West Side left eight people wounded late Saturday and early Sunday, though the victims were in stable condition. The victims of several shootings on the Near North Side early Sunday were not so lucky. One 25-year-old woman was fatally shot in the head while standing on the street, and a 17-year-old girl suffered fatal injuries after a gunman opened fire on an apartment building. The third person killed in the violent weekend was a 32-year-old man, slain in the Back of the Yards neighborhood Saturday. Three others were wounded in two separate shootings in the area, and police later said they found rifle casings at both scenes.
