Hundreds of homes are underwater and a thousand residents were evacauated in San Marcos, Texas, as emergency crews assessed the damage, said Hays County emergency-management coordinator Kharley Smith. The Oklahoma City metro area has had the rainiest 40 days and 40 nights in the city’s history, with 20.46 inches. The Blanco River in Texas’ Hays County rose to 40.2 feet, breaking a record crest by nearly six feet and causing “catastrophic flooding,” the National Weather Service said. The poor weather conditions are expected to continue into next week for the Plains, Texas, and the Mississippi Valley.
