Three Mario Batali Restaurants in Vegas Will Close

Mario Batali’s three restaurants on the Las Vegas strip will shut down on July 27th amid mounting sexual-misconduct allegations against the chef, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Batali & Bastianich Hospitality Group partner Joe Bastianich sent a letter to almost 300 employees about the closing of Carnevino Italian Steakhouse, B&B Ristorante, and Otto Enoteca e Pizzeria at The Venetian and Palazzo hotels in Vegas. The letter explained that Las Vegas Sands Corp., which owns both hotels and is run by Sheldon Adelson, is ending their business partnership. A Batali & Bastianich spokesperson said the decision to end the partnership was made before a 60 Minutes episode came out last week, revealing new allegations against Batali and prompting a New York Police Department probe. Batali stepped down from the day-to-day operations of his restaurant business and his show, The Chew, in December after four women accused Batali of “inappropriate touching” over the span of two decades.
