Yes, the Detroit Tigers have racked up a third consecutive loss, but it’s still not a good excuse for a domestic violence joke. When manager Brad Ausmus was asked how he deals with the losses after the Tigers fell to the Kansas City Royals on Wednesday, he joked “I beat my wife.” To his credit, Ausmus almost immediately apologized for his incredibly unfunny joke. "I didn't want to make light of battered women," he said, " I apologize if that offended anyone. Next question. Sorry." At least Ausmus was reminded there are things worse than falling from first place.
