T.J. Miller Charged With Making False Bomb Threat on Train

The Justice Department says he appeared "intoxicated."

Former Silicon Valley star T.J. Miller was arrested Monday evening at New York’s LaGuardia Airport after allegedly calling in a false bomb threat, according to a Justice Department press release. Miller is charged with “intentionally conveying to law enforcement false information about an explosive device on a train traveling to Connecticut” and faces up to five years in prison, authorities said.  He appeared in front of U.S. District Judge Jeffrey A. Meyer on Tuesday and was released on $100,000 bond. According to the release, the comedian called a 911 dispatcher in New Jersey and claimed he was on an Amtrak train heading to New York from Washington, D.C. He then stated that a female passenger with “brown hair and a scarf” was on the train and “has a bomb in her bag,” federal prosecutors alleged. Amtrak officials stopped the train, but no explosives were found. An Amtrak attendant “stated that Miller appeared intoxicated upon boarding in Washington, that he consumed multiple drinks on the train, and that he had been removed in New York owing to his intoxication,” prosecutors said. He was also allegedly involved in “hostile exchanges” with a woman sitting in the First Class car. This comes after The Daily Beast reported that Miller allegedly physically and sexually abused a woman in his college years.
