House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) on Thursday called for the removal of House Intelligence Committee’s Chairman Devin Nunes (R-CA) in separate letters to House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI). This comes after Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) claimed that Nunes personally altered the memo before it was sent to the White House for review. Schumer wrote in his letter that Republicans “sow conspiracy theories” in order to “undermine” Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russia’s interference in the 2016 election. Pelosi wrote that Nunes was in “violation of House rules” and “unfit to serve as Chairman, and he must be immediately removed from his position.”
