Feeling the need… the need for speed? Well, Vulture reports Paramount Pictures is officially offering to develop Top Gun 2, a sequel to Tom Cruise’s 1986 hit film. Cruise is rumored to be returning as Maverick (in a smaller, less “obvious” role), according to the site, and Christopher McQuarrie has been approached to pen the script. The studio has also allegedly reached out to producer Jerry Bruckheimer and director Tony Scott, who directed the original movie. Rumors about Top Gun 2 became serious in July when Bruckheimer told MTV about the struggles to put the sequel into action. "The aviation community has completely changed since we made the movie a long time ago," he said. "So we have to find a way in and how to incorporate the Maverick character into it."
