A top official in the Depaertment of Veterans Affairs has resigned in the wake of a slew of allegations over health-care negligence at VA hospitals. Robert Petzel, undersecretary for health care at the VA, quit Friday. Petzel and Secretary Eric Shinseki testified Thursday in front of the Senate Committee on Veterans Affairs about veterans who died waiting for treatment. Petzel planned to retire this year anyway.
