New York City was walloped with a storm Thursday night, a rapidly moving one that dumped sheets of rain, felled trees, and left more than 25,000 people without electricity. The storm resulted in one death, after a tree fell onto a car in the borough of Queens. “A huge tree limb, like 25 feet long, flew right up the street,” said one New York resident. “It was like a poltergeist.” Another Brooklyn resident reported seeing several rooftops come undone on his street. Winds were reported to have reached as high as 100 miles per hour.
