During the tense single-game AL Wild Card playoff, a fan threw what appeared to be a full can of beer at Baltimore Orioles outfielder Hyun-soo Kim as he went to catch an inning-ending fly ball during the bottom of the seventh inning. Kim’s teammate, center fielder Adam Jones, came over to shout into the left-field stands, yelling at the fan who tossed the projectile. Toronto police swarmed the section of the Rogers Centre to find the culprit, as Orioles Manager Buck Showalter emerged from the dugout to discuss with umpires how to proceed. At the time of the incident, the two teams were tied 2-2. The Blue Jays went on to win on Edwin Encarnacion’s walk-off home run in the bottom of the 11th inning.
