The death of a small child brought the British parties' leaders together in Parliament, where lawmakers suspended questioning the prime minister to offer sympathy to father and Conservative leader David Cameron and his family. Ivan Cameron, 6, suffered from cerebral palsy and a rare form of epilepsy, and died on Tuesday night following a seizure at home during a celebration of pancake night. A visibly moved Gordon Brown, who lost his own newborn daughter seven years ago, called Ivan's death "an unbearable sorrow no parent should ever have to endure," while the shadow foreign secretary, William Hague said, "His parents lived with the knowledge for a long time that he could die young, but this has made their loss no less heartbreaking." The Camerons have two other children, aged five and two.
