An armed gang kidnapped three tourists and killed a fourth in Timbuktu, Mali. Two of the hostages are Dutch and the other is South African. The gang burst into a restaurant in the city's central square where the four were eating and demanded they get in the car. The fourth man, a German, was shot when he refused. The attack is believed to be the latest in a string of kidnappings by al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb. On Thursday, two French geologists were kidnapped by a gang in an eastern village.
