With many of its products coming under heavy scrutiny ever since a string of recalls, Toyota is facing a new complaint over the Lexus GX 460. Consumer Reports is making the rare move of dissuading people from buying the new SUV because it says the car poses a safety risk, and in response Toyota said it will temporarily stop selling the car while it does its own testing. Consumer Reports came to the conclusion after conducting its own tests into the car’s electronic stability control and finding that it did not kick in until the sliding vehicle was almost sideways. The magazine said it "believes that in real-world driving, that situation could lead to a rollover accident, which could cause serious injury or death." According to Consumer Reports, a Toyota spokeswoman said the company was “mystified by the results.”
