Transparent creator Jill Soloway called for transgender equality while accepting an Emmy for comedy series directing at the 67th annual Emmy Awards on Sunday. “We don’t have a trans tipping point yet,” she said during her acceptance speech. “We have a trans civil-rights problem.” Soloway urged supporters to vote and help pass the Trans Equality Bill to prevent landlords from discriminating against trans people. Actor Jeffrey Tambor also won for the Amazon breakout series, earning best actor in a comedy for his role as transgender woman Maura Pfefferman. Tambor dedicated his award to the transgender community, thanking them for “letting us be part of the change.”
