Trevor Noah attempted to open The Daily Show Monday night by talking about the recent conflict in Yemen, but he quickly admitted, “I get that most Americans are tired of hearing about wars in the Middle East, especially when you have your own war at home against the Tic Tac-sucking pussy monster.” So from there, he really had no choice but to pivot to Donald Trump.
As Trump’s chances of winning the 2016 presidential election continue to shrink, the Republican candidate’s claims that the system is “rigged” have only grown louder. “There’s a reason everything is going wrong for Donald Trump,” Noah said. “It’s because he is a terrible man, who has done terrible things, and has a terrible plan for the country.” But according to Trump, it’s because everyone’s against him, including “international banks,” “the blacks,” and most of all “the thing he can’t live without”: the “crooked media.”
“Oh, Donald Trump, the media is not ‘rigged’ against you,” Noah said. “They’re just recording what you say and playing it back. If anything, you’re rigging your own campaign.”
Noah suggested that perhaps Trump doesn’t realize that he’s the one on TV “saying the things that make him look bad,” thinking, “Who’s that guy? He makes me look like shit!” He compared him to a gorilla that doesn’t recognize itself in a mirror. But, perhaps wanting to avoid the lawsuit Trump brought against Bill Maher for a similar joke, he clarified, “Trump is not a wild animal, because if he was, his sons would have killed him by now.”
“Seriously, Donald Trump, the media has given you billions of dollars of free air time, you realize that? Billions of dollars!” Noah said. “How are they rigging it against you? Even your empty podium has been on TV more than Gary Johnson and Jill Stein combined.”
