Trooper Shooter: ‘You’re Gonna Die Soon’

The man who shot a Louisiana State Police trooper in the head allegedly told his victim that he was lucky because he’s “gonna die soon.” Police say the grim warning was uttered when Trooper Steven Vincent went to help Kevin Daigle, who had crashed his car in a ditch Sunday. Daigle then shot the trooper in the head with a sawed-off shotgun. Vincent died Monday morning, the Louisiana State Police announced. Motorists wrested the gun from Daigle and provided aid to Vincent until help arrived. Police had received several calls about Daigle that day, saying he appeared to be drunk and was driving erratically.
