Having deluged South Florida with rain on Monday, weather system Gordon is forecast to be a Category 1 hurricane when it makes a second U.S. landfall later today on the Gulf Coast. The National Hurricane Center in Miami said there could be storm surges along the corridor from Louisiana to Mississippi when Gordon hits late Tuesday or Tuesday night, warning of “life-threatening inundation.” Louisiana declared a state of emergency Monday afternoon ahead of the storm’s expected arrival, while a voluntary evacuation has been ordered in Grand Isle, Louisiana.
