Trump’s Most-Hated Democrats Back His Surprise $2K Stimulus Check Demand

In a surprise video address Tuesday night, Trump dismissed the proposed checks of $600 in the COVID-19 relief bill as “ridiculously low.”

Some of President Donald Trump’s least favorite people in the world—including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez—have thrown their support behind his unexpected demand for $2,000 stimulus checks. In a surprise video address Tuesday night, Trump dismissed the proposed checks of $600 in the COVID-19 relief bill as “ridiculously low” and demanded the much higher sum of $2,000. The call has been embraced by Democrats, who have now urged the president to convince Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and other Republicans to make it happen. Pelosi said the call would have “unanimous consent” among House Democrats, Ocasio-Cortez said she was “glad to see the President is willing to support our legislation,” and Schumer wrote: “I’m in. Whaddya say, Mitch?”
