While the focus was largely on Donald Trump’s showdown with Hillary Clinton at Sunday night’s presidential debate, many were shocked by the Republican nominee’s apparent dis of his own running mate. When the issue of Syria came up in the debate, Trump contradicted Gov. Mike Pence’s earlier remarks in support of using military force. “He and I haven’t spoken, and he and I disagree,” Trump said. Many were left perplexed about how Trump could have not spoken with his own running mate on what is arguably one of the biggest issues in the presidential campaign. Talk-show host Jerry Springer joked on Twitter that it “sounds like Mike Pence and Donald Trump might need to come on my show to talk things out.” Meanwhile, CBS News cited a source saying Pence was “pissed” and his team “nuclear” over Trump’s comment.
